    Wequassett Resort and Golf Club
Over 400 years ago, the Wampanoag Indians were the first to discover the pleasures of summering at Wequassett, swimming and fishing in the Bay’s clear waters, chipping arrowheads from colored stones on the shore, and gathering quahog and periwinkle shells for wampum. They named the land Wequassett, which means “crescent on the water,” most likely because the sand-spit curves about the Cove are in the crescent shape. In 1665, Sachem John Quason Towsowett sold the land to William Nickerson, who eventually settled the town of Chatham.

Wequassett Resort & Golf Club has undergone  a major expansion for the season. At its heart is a grand hospitality space for large events and weddings.

A permanent climate controlled tent structure boasts a sweeping peak that opens onto views of Pleasant Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Surrounding the tent will be a series of terraces connected by gardens and promenades and newly landscaped lawns extending to the water’s edge and designed as a venue for cocktail and dinner parties.

The new space also will be the location for Wequasett’s 11th annual Cape Cod Jazz Festival that features starlit performances by renowned jazz, blues, world beat and Latin musical artists every Tuesdday and Wednesday evenings in July and August

This year’s standout performers include Michael Feinstein, G Love, Ray Green and Stephane Wrembel.  Admission to the festival is free and guests can reserve priority seating by making reservations at twenty-eight Atlantic, the resort’s signature restaurant where a special prix fixe menu is offered.

Wequassett has been a vacation retreat for generations of families for nearly 70 years. An exquisite hideaway nestled on 27 acres of beautifully manicured waterfront land overlooking Pleasant Bay. The resort offers 120 finely appointed guest rooms and suites.

Four restaurants offer the best in coastal dining, featuring elegant to seaside-casual ambiances. A host of amenities and activities include access to private 18-hole championship golf, two swimming pools, pristine beachfront, water sports and tennis courts. A whimsical Children’s Center with creative experiences is a highlight for younger guests.

    Accommodations

Wequassett’s inviting exterior showcases nostalgic Cape Cod-style architecture with soft grey- and white-shingled cottages with gracious porches and patios. Meandering brick pathways are flanked by lush English-style gardens boasting distinctive hydrangeas, spring tulips and azaleas.

Around almost every turn, the resort beckons guests to sit and reconnect, with outdoor fire pits and deep Adirondack chairs scattered throughout the property. Virtually every position on the property boasts dramatic views of Pleasant Bay and the Atlantic beyond.

The resort’s finest accommodations are called the Signature Collection. These guest rooms are reminiscent of a comfortable seaside residence, and are luxurious in every way. They are very spacious, beautifully decorated and technically advanced. Each room is unique, yet all are detailed with Italian marble baths, paneled walls, crown molding, built-in surround sound and gas fireplaces. Outdoor space includes fieldstone patios or private decks, and a mix of fire pits, fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs.

In addition there are accommodations in Cape Cod-style cottages and villa-style buildings. All accommodations are spacious and offer garden or water views with patios or decks and an array of special amenities.

    Resort Amenities

The resort has two magnificent pools, private beach, boating and sailing, four Har-Tru tennis courts, 18-hole championship golf, a children’s center with indoor and outdoor play areas and a fitness center. Other amenities nclude a complimentary launch service to the Outer Beach,

    Fourth of July

The Annual Fourth of July Celebration is a tradition that brings families back year after year. Wequassett hosts the finest display of fireworks on the Lower Cape. A family-style barbecue, live music and children’s entertainment is the perfect way to celebrate America in one of the country’s most iconic and picturesque vacation spots.

The vintage ice cream truck is reminiscent of a Good Humor truck from the 1950s; children and adults delight in this charming throwback. The ice cream truck makes rounds throughout the resort offering complimentary treats to guests.
