    Sitting atop a hill at one of Provincetown’s highest points, the house boasted spectacular 360-degree views of Cape Cod Bay, dunes, Provincetown and the Atlantic Ocean. The challenge was to create a master suite, guest bedroom suite and garage to blend seamlessly into the existing architecture.

    The homeowner asked Lewis and Weldon to take over design, production and finishing of a home that was torn down and rebuilt – from launch to home video, staircase, cabinetry, kitchen details that  flow with the home, fireplace surround and classic garden landscaping with white picket fencing.

    Revitalizing this harbor-side row house involved undoing the 1970s apartment-style layout to accommodate single-family living and restoring the historic seaport character eroded by past renovations. The home is a balanced combination of intimate and open spaces – perfect for a family that includes six adult children and numerous grandchildren, neighbors and friends.

    The goal was to add more retirement space, maximize a narrow ocean view, open dark spaces to the light and create useable outdoor living space. Low ceilings, cozy spaces and multiple fireplaces of the old 1930s Cape remain, but now updated, organized and functional for casual, contemporary living.

    An outdated home gained functionality while incorporating ocean views. Improvements included a new kitchen, reconfigured mudroom, outdoor shower and indoor bathroom, complete with showr for dog washing, guest bedroom, a renovated basement with guest suite, fitness room and entertainment space.

    An antique home, a detached garage and an existing bluestone patio provided the inspiration for a revamped outdoor dining and cooking space for the Harwich Port home. A mahogany sun deck was added at one end of the bluestone courtyard, and a gas fire pit and seating area  the opposite end.

    Around Squeteague Harbor in the Cataumet section of Bourne, a summer home had an old bath house for swimming and views of Buzzards Bay beyond. The plan was to replace the rotted bathhouse, but with an exact replica, using modern flood-resistant materials topped by a mermaid weathervane.
