Pushing Through a Tough Day
Luxx Cape Cod and Koko FitClub have partnered together to get fit. Over the next few months, we will be following Christopher through his journey on the Koko 30 days for $30 program, and see if it’s up to the test.
Today was one of those days. No sleep, bad day, and I have to go to the gym. I have to pick myself up and go to the gym, because if I don’t, the results will show.
I was trying to think back to gym days of the past and recollecting what my motivation level was to go to the gym, and I can remember things being very different. Tired? Bad day? No gym.
But with Koko it seems different – and I’ll try to explain why.
Because I can see my stats at home. Because there’s quantifiable data behind my exercising and PROOF that I am getting healthier BECAUSE I keep things consistent, it becomes like keeping a streak alive. I SEE the results and don’t want to lose those.
So where once I was easily swayed to stay far far away from lifting weights and running for miles on a bad day, now I find myself picking up my feet and dragging myself to the gym so I can keep that streak alive, so I don’t have to face the negative results when I know I’ve let myself slip. I’m held accountable by my past successes, and I now have the numbers to serve as a constant reminder. And you know what? The exercise helped tremendously. I felt a renewed second wind for the rest of the night. The physical exertion got my blood pumping, I was able to mentally separate myself from my own self-pity, grabbed a protein shake on the way out and felt awesome. Okay – this is really starting to become more than a place I go to exercise – it’s turning into a place I can go to escape and reset, and the data gives me the strength to get up off my ass and do it. It’s the little things sometimes – and it still fascinates me.
