Koko FitClub 30 for 30 Series: Koko FitClub FamilyAdd to My Luxx Living
Koko FitClub Family
Luxx Cape Cod and Koko FitClub have partnered together to get fit. Over the next few months, we will be following Christopher through his journey on the Koko 30 days for $30 program, and see if it’s up to the test.
Koko is less like a gym and more like a family. I walk in every day and see the same familiar faces with the same familiar routine – but there’s always something different. It’s not like other gyms I’ve been to where you work to avoid eye contact with others at all costs. You co-exist in the same healthy environment – sometimes striking up a conversation or shooting the breeze. Everyone is sweating and working hard on their own program, but nobody judges anybody – it’s like we’re all in this together. We all want to be healthier and are focused on our own goals, and because we see the same people every week, you get to know them a bit. Nicola and I share our passion for Android, and Rodrigo and I talk shop as we’re both Web marketers/Web developers (he’s a developer, I’m a marketer).
There’s something refreshing about this extra element in my tri-weekly workouts. It provides a sense of comfortability in my workout. It takes away the fear of “is this person looking at me?” or “I hope they’re not checking out my ass.” You get to exercise in a place where other people are silently cheering you on; by worrying about their own workouts and keeping things casual. You get the results without the claustrophobia. It’s almost like a sub-set of your work environment – you know people on a social level, but instead of a work relationship, it’s a working-OUT relationship. More gems like that to come.
