Choosing a Caterer for Your WeddingAdd to My Luxx Living
We’ve been asked at Chapin’s Catering hundreds of questions by clients over the years about catering their wedding. Here are some key priorities for you to consider when meeting with a caterer.
Do they specialize in certain foods?
What is the average price range for their services?
Besides the food, what else does the caterer provide? Decor, linens, tables, chairs, silverware?
Has the caterer handled other events at your venue?
How many wait staff will be provided?
How experienced is the wait staff?
What will the wait staff wear?
Will the caterer provide the drinks and bartender?
Can your caterer provide references and photos of previous weddings?
Based on budget or other considerations, do you prefer a sit-down meal or buffet?
Who will be managing the event?
Who is the main contact?
Will the same person you work with planning the meal also oversee the actual wedding?
Will the caterer be handing other events the same day or weekend?
Will the caterer hand all table settings including placing cards and favors?
Can you offer up special requests for the meal?
Can the caterer accommodate special requests such as vegetarian or Kosher?
Where will the food be prepared? Do they have off-site capacity, especially if it is outside?
Will there be additional costs if the caterer must bring its own equipment?
Where does the caterer obtain the food for your wedding? Is it fresh or frozen?
Does the caterer have all necessary permits and licenses?
If the caterer is responsible for alcohol, does it have appropriate insurance coverage?
Will there be a corkage charge?
Can the caterer provide you with references and testimonials?
Do you offer packages or is your menu a la carte?
Do you offer theme menus?
Do you provide the cake?
