In the shadow of the Sagamore Bridge in Sagamore, you can purchase among the best American glass in the world, all custom manufactured right on the premises. You can watch accomplished glass makers working at their craft from a balcony adjacent to Pairpoint’s showroom. It was founded in 1837 in South Boston as the Mt. Washington Glass Company, and today it is the oldest operating glass works in the country. Examples of Pairpoint’s timeless designs can be found in the decorative arts collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
Pairpoint is very well known for its Cranberry glass, hand-blown vases, stemware, decanters, perfume bottles and candlesticks. Its distinctive colors include sapphire blue, cobalt blue, gold ruby, Pairpoint ruby, rosaria, vaseline, opal, amethyst, camellia, auroria, and amber.
